Logic Pro Session Players

Logic Pro is Apple's recording software for Mac and iPad, and its Session Players are virtual bandmates built into it. Drummer plays a part in a chosen style that you can steer with controls for complexity, loudness and which drums to use. Bass Player and Keyboard Player follow the chords on the project's chord track and play parts that fit them, which you can adjust and then turn into editable MIDI.

For a songwriter or a band without a rhythm section at the demo stage, this makes it quick to hear a song with a full arrangement before anyone books a rehearsal. The parts are a starting point: most people edit them or replace them with real players for the final recording. Logic Pro is a paid app, and the Session Players come with it rather than as a separate product.
