BandLab

BandLab is a free music-making platform that works in the browser and on phones. At its center is a multitrack recorder and editor where band members can record parts, add loops and virtual instruments, and share a project so others can add their own tracks from wherever they are.

For songwriting, its SongStarter feature generates short musical ideas in a chosen style that you can keep, change or throw away, which helps when a session stalls. The platform also includes automatic mastering, a social feed for posting music and tools for collaborating on one song. It suits bands that write remotely or want a no-cost place to sketch demos; for detailed mixing, many musicians move the finished tracks into a full desktop DAW.
